What is Suppurativa?
Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic disease with periods of exacerbation and recovery. Although it was previously considered a type of acne, it has recently been accepted as a chronic inflammation of the apocrine sweat glands.
How is Hidradenitis Suppurativa seen? What does it affect most often?
Hidradenitis suppurativa affects areas such as the armpit, groin and gluteal area, where apocrine sweat glands are commonly seen.
It is characterized by deep, interconnected abscess foci with purulent discharge in these areas.
Does Hidradenitis Suppurativa only affect the skin?
Hidradenitis suppurativa can be seen alone or with some diseases such as severe acne, ingrown hairs (pilonidal sinus), and joint inflammation (arthritis).
Is Hidradenitis Suppurativa a treatable disease?
Creams applied to the skin, oral pills, biological drugs, and surgical treatment can be used in the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa, depending on its clinical severity.
